dr. ir. Jeroen Hoppenbrouwers is a research integration engineer with a strong drive to make something work. Whether this ‘something’ is a machine, an organisation, or both combined is of less importance; as long as it works.
Being very communication-oriented, he is at his best analysing, reformulating, and explaining complex issues to people who are not directly or technically involved with the subject, yet need sufficient insight to make decisions about it.
Although Jeroen can get along ‘just managing the process,’ he likes to get a grip on it as well and actually do something, such as in analysis, design, or process and documentation management. Managing the integration aspects of international projects, from idea via formal proposal to negotiations, organisation, execution, and finalisation has been his main occupation for the last ten years.
He is not afraid to face orthogonal interests inside the project group and usually manages to combine sides successfully. Jeroen does not think that project management ends when procedures are in place and enforced; personal communication with human beings to forge mutual understanding is his main management tool.
Jeroen specialises in knowledge-related information science and systems architecture. His main interests are on the boundary between natural language and modelling of both information systems and semantic domains. Information security is an increasingly important part of his daily work.
Next to his core business of research integration, Jeroen maintains a strong interest in the world of commercial aviation operations and has seen his software make it to unexpected places in the aviation industry.
