B.Eng. thesis on a feasibility study of implementing and offering ACARS services to the European business aviation segment

Dear all

I am currently researching ACARS and I need input from primary sources regarding ACARS as a technology, so I truly hope that you are able to help me answer several questions for my thesis.

I would appreciate your time spent on providing input and answers to some of the questions below (I do not expect to have all of them answered by any individual):

Q1. Are there any political and/or legislative issues to consider for potential ACARS resellers and service providers such as demands from Eurocontrol and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)?

Q2. Who do you see as the potential stakeholders in the European business aviation industry
regarding ACARS?

Q3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of ACARS compared to
substitute services in the market today? are there any substitute services?

Q4. What are the customer- and End-user benefits of ACARS?

Q5. Are there any value-added services that can be offered through ACARS?

Q6. Has there been any technological innovation on improving ACARS since it was invented back in the late 70’s?

Q7. There have been talks and fuss about phasing out ACARS in favor of an Aeronautical Telecommunications Network that is based on the OSI Reference model, do you know why?

- How likely is that to happen?
- What is holding back the project?
