ACARS

The ACARS system allows stations (planes, dispatchers, air traffic controllers...) to exchange short text messages.

Update for Dispatch Client

Is it possible for the Dispatch client to have PosRep and Progress. What about ADS-C Editor?

ADS-C MsFs

Hoi,

I'm looking to make a website with an overview of all aircrafts online ( and later only the ones of my company).
I can see other planes online but not mine. I use the MsFs bridge tool. The position reports I send manually are correct.
As I understand correctly I have to send a ADS-C message from WFTRACK to my flight. I receive that message on the MCDU.
I did the Preflight in the MCDU and checked ADS is set to ON. Still I don't send automatic position reports.

Is there something I do wrong here?

Thanks for the help,

Erik Wachters

ACARS/CPDLC Capability

Hello Jeroen:

I am working on an aviation research project for the MITRE Corp (in the US), which is looking at using VATSIM as a research tool.

Simulation of Dispatch

Hi Jeroen,
I am designing a VA Dispatch application for use with a VA dependent on a mixture of FSX and FS2004. I want, if possible, to include your ACARS application in the solution.

To use your ACARS applications, and include the calculations made by TOPCAT, within the VA Dispatch application (which would contain the VA data), where would the application that Christian Grill refers to as 'ACARS Communications Station' be run? Am I right in assuming that the ACARS Network is only used for storing/forwarding telex messages and is not the same as the ACARS Communications Station?

File Store Libraries

I am highly interested to see what types of data other people are using for the "File Store." I am currently using the default TOPCAT ( http://www.topcatsim.com/ ) to calculate my 747-400 PMDG loadout, take off, landing and wxr. It also works with ACARS in a fantastic way. It uses the file store for all of the above funtions and this is how I prepare my cabin, from the MCDU with those file store files. I would like to add one to my arsenal: ARRIVAL INFO.

New releases of all ACARS programs

I added a mini ACARS server to the suite, so people can run ACARS locally on a portable system if they need to give demos. This mini server is exactly that, a mini server. It does not do everything the real network server does.

ACARS activity log

It can be lonely out there, if you do not see what is going on all around you. This is why ACARS has a peek-under-the-hood function at http://www.hoppie.nl/acars/system/log.html : you can see all messages being passed around between all systems. Within limits, you can also use this web-based interface as your ACARS station, in case of emergencies.

Need for CPDLC tutorial?

I see the occasional CPDLC exchange on the message log, but few people really provide CPDLC ATC services. We might need to attract the interest of oceanic services on VATSIM and/or IVAO. Maybe a better tutorial is helpful?

Edit: A reasonable tutorial is available in the form of the WorldFlight walkthrough. You can see most of the things going on, including Dispatch and CPDLC/ATC communications. http://www.hoppie.nl/acars/example.html
