Designation RTM
Name Rotterdam
Position N51°58.3' E004°28.5'
Google MapsN51°58.3' E004°28.5'
Frequency 110.40 MHz
Operational range Unknown yet, likely only meant for local navigation around Rotterdam Airport EHRD, just as SPL. That would mean 60 nm at FL250.
Type VOR/DME
Geography Near Rotterdam Airport (EHRD). From the A13 motorway, take exit Rotterdam Airport/Berkel en Rodenrijs. Follow the Doenkade parallel to runway 06/24. After the BP fuel station, turn left. The beacon is then visible in the meadows on your left hand side. Good boots are required to get to it!
Procedures Positioned smack on centerline of the 06/24 runway of Rotterdam Airport, this beacon is a natural resource for nearly all approaches and departures. It lays about 1.2 nm before the landing threshold of 24. Small general aviation planes often use the beacon as turning point when departing from 06; if they would turn before the beacon, they would cross Hillegersberg and people would fire Stingers at them.
